Lithic Vessel Residential Design is an owner-operated firm established in 2005 by Ryan Hultman. Prior to transitioning to residential design, Ryan worked as a sculptor in both Europe and Vancouver.

This project illustrated a focused approach to residential design by intensive collaboration with client to strategically utilize unique zoning allowances for floor space not typical of other zones. On nearly every floor these bonus' were used achieving a highly functional living spaces. Gaining light, storage, and privacy to each floor.

City of Vancouver - Quesnel Dr.
This dwelling utilized an irregular lot shape to provide exceptional City views throughout the dining, living and kitchen areas. The design taking notes from Czech functionalism by the owners request.

West 21st Avenue, City of Vancouver.
Much of the design and roof deck was to capture as much light while utilizing mature trees on lot for continued privacy. Many unique use of bays typically not counted as FSR into closets and storage, allowing clean interior lines for rooms and hallways, while providing interesting elevations for a 33' lot.

1833 Yew Street, City of Vancouver
Once a proud founders house in Kitsilano this house was moved to the lane in 1930's and run to near condemned status. We brought it back with heritage's watchful eye and found every possible nook and cranny to gain living space. It now has 4 units , two studio suites in basement and a 2 bedroom on second floor and 3 bedroom suite on upper two floors.

From a beach bungalow in the late 1800's the house saw it's 3rd incarnation to be the one to last another 100+ years. New rear yard garage/studio to mimic other existing garages in lane and neighborhood in arguing greater F.S.R. and aesthetic.

West 18th Avenue, City of Vancouver
New Triplex.
Two families, one house. The design capturing each families needs and desires for how the internal space and light was programmed. 3 car garage, suite, and amenity space packed in to the floor below grade.

1521 Ridgeway Ave. City of North Vancouver.
We kept the existing footprint and most of the second-floor walls, utilizing a bylaw bonus for the existing basement area to maximize the building's potential. This project included a successful Board of Variance challenge regarding the second-floor envelope at the north side yard
District of North Vancouver.
The client wanted a modest refresh and attain better functional space - Covered porch, foyer with storage, open concept kitchen, dining room with elbow room, basement storage/cold room and rec room.

Killkenny District of North Vancouver.
This family wanted a upgrade and gain a proper laundry and mudroom between the garage and living space, with a private second entry while updating kitchen and re-utilized rec-room from existing garage. Original sketch drawing used during design and consultation process.
